Finnish environmental and industrial measurement company Vaisala has committed to becoming a 100% renewable energy company by 2020.
Based in Finland, Vaisala develops, manufacturers, and markets products and services for environmental and industrial measurement, with its major markets in national meteorological and hydrological services. With 79 years of experience, the company describes itself as contributing “to a better quality of life by providing a comprehensive range of innovative observation and measurement products and services for chosen weather-related and industrial markets.”
Announced on Tuesday, the company revealed that it had committed to becoming a 100% renewable energy powered company by 2020, based in its belief “in a future where societies are powered by renewable sources of energy.”

“Compared to its size, Vaisala has an essential role in today’s society through its technologies that keep people safe every day,” said Kjell Forsén, Vaisala President and CEO. “We are ambitious not only in our technological advances, but also in taking action in ensuring a sustainable future for our customers and other stakeholders, and simultaneously creating a more sustainable business model for our industry. Vaisala is taking steps today, so that we can be competitive tomorrow. I am confident that our renewable energy commitment will encourage other companies to follow suit.”
